Version of Sept. 26, 2026

No customer’s data has ever been sold from this desk, and this page exists so a California resident can hold the shop to that in writing rather than on trust.

What “selling” would even mean at a bookshop

Selling: handing personal information to a third party in return for money or another benefit. Sharing: passing it along for the purpose of ads that trail a visitor from site to site. Neither takes place on ovexik.com. The companies that handle an order (distribution partner, carriers, payment processors, email service, hosting) are bound by contract to completing that order and nothing more. With no ad pixel on the site, browsing data has no exit route to an advertiser.

My rights under California law

The CCPA and the CPRA give a Californian seven levers: to be told what’s collected and for what purpose; to receive a copy; to correct it; to erase it, save what the law obliges a seller to keep; to opt out of sale or sharing; to restrict use of sensitive information; and to pay and be served exactly as before after pulling any of them. For the inventory of what’s collected and which companies see it, read the Privacy Policy; this page is only about saying no.

What actually changes after I opt out

The order still ships. Refunds still land. The desk still answers. Order confirmation and tracking emails still come, being part of the purchase rather than marketing. The single change is a note against the email address so that, if the shop’s practices ever change, that opt-out is honored first. Erasing the order record is a different request, handled under the Privacy Policy and limited by the seven-year bookkeeping rule.

Opting out today

  1. Send an email to contact@ovexik.com. Subject: “Privacy request”. Body: “do not sell or share”, in those words. Or:
  2. Enable Global Privacy Control in the browser’s settings. When the site receives it, the visitor counts as opted out without writing a word.

There’s no cookie preferences panel to hunt for, since not one cookie here requires consent.

Sending the request for someone else

An authorized agent may send it with the customer’s signed permission attached. Nobody under 16 is knowingly served here, and there’s no data about them to sell or share. There’s no limit on when, or how often, a request comes in. If the same email also asks for a copy or an erasure, that part runs on the Privacy Policy‘s 45-day clock.

How you know the request is mine

Verification uses only the email address on an order, or takes the visitor’s word when there’s no order. An opt-out never requires a photo ID. Acknowledgment inside 3 weekdays; the opt-out recorded inside 15 weekdays.

Using the Global Privacy Control signal

The site honors it for every visitor in the United States, not Californians alone. Today, honoring it means recording the opt-out. If an advertising or analytics tag is ever added, the signal will switch that tag off for the visitor, and this page will say so the same day.

Being treated differently afterwards

Not possible. No price moves, no service is withheld, no account is downgraded. The shop runs nothing that depends on selling data.

Where to go from here

Privacy Policy for everything collected and kept. Contact for the form and the company details. Or email contact@ovexik.com with the subject “Privacy request”, or ring +1 (770) 768-1723 on a weekday between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM ET. Someone who read the message writes back inside one business day.
